Snagit 13 released – primed to capture images and videos

Complete UI redesign

The UI of Snagit has been completely redesigned and you are going to love it. Take a look at the screenshot below.

Existing Snagit users will notice that the Quick Styles have moved to a resizeable palette in the right-hand pane. This is great, because you can now see all items in the group at a glance and pick the one you want. Here’s an example where you can see all the stamps available.

Video capturing and editing

As you may know, Snagit has been offering video captures since Snagit 11. This feature has been significantly improved over the last two versions and you can now capture a video and cut pieces out of it afterwards in Snagit. The video format is .mp4 which can be shared on YouTube, Vimeo, Screencast.com and other video channels. The .mp4 file can also be embedded in HTML5 code.

Here’s a video of my son showing his football skills. He wanted me to cut a piece out of the video. As you can see, I can select a period in the video timeline going from the green dot to the red dot. When marked up, I can cut the piece out.

Sharing images and videos

When you have captured your screenshot or video, it has never been easier to share with your customers, family or friends.

Click the Share button in the top right corner and a myriad of sharing possibilities appear including:

  • Word
  • Powerpoint
  • Facebook
  • WordPress
  • Camtasia Studio
  • Dropbox

You can even preset Snagit to automatically share your current image directly to, for example, Powerpoint. This means that you never have to leave your current presentation in Powerpoint. You simple edit your slide, press the Snagit hotkey to capture an image, then the image pops directly onto the current slide. It’s that easy!!
